Test: Les nicopouches 77 Dark Series

A flurry of new products in this latest edition of Mathieu's tests. Today, I'd like to share with you my impressions of the latest range from Polish designers 77: the Dark Series. Behind this intriguing name lies a multitude of flavors, each as surprising as the next. Discover them with me!

With a name like Dark Series, you'd expect 77 to offer dark packaging. This is indeed the case, as the Polish brand has opted for cans opaque black, simply enhanced by the colors specific to each flavor, with a glossy finish to great effect.

I really like the nicopods 77 packaging, which goes straight to the point while remaining elegant.

For example, the lid website features the 77 logo in the center, above the flavour name and dosage (in the case of Dark Series, 20 mg per gram, i.e. the equivalent of 10 mg per pouch).

On either side of the logo we find the essential information: size (Slim) and strength (Extra Strong).

The whole is surrounded by an irridescent circle.

On the edge, we find the same information and another border encircling the outline of the can.

Of course, there's also a watertight compartment for disposing of used parts at lid . pouches used products. I particularly like the fact that the lid of the compartment is attached to the rest of the lid by a plastic tie, very practical when you're clumsy.

The result is a premium, distinguished look. 77 has really pulled out all the stops to offer sober, eye-pleasing and consistent packaging throughout their new range. I really like the almost minimalist look of the Dark Series, as I already mentioned in my XTRIME nicopouches test: all the information I need is easily found on the packaging, in a clean, orderly and practical way. Nothing to do with an obnoxious greenish cigarette pack. So, are 77 Dark Series nicopods a fashion accessory?

Flavours and aromas

77 is going all out, and no fewer than nine new flavors make up the brand-new Dark Series range. Enough to satisfy every taste.

Let's start with the range's fruity flavors. 77 innovates and offers nicopods with delicious ripe fruit aromas, and even manages to stand out from the competition! As a fan of fruity flavors myself, I had no idea that 77 would bring back memories of my childhood.

So, while Forest Fruits remains fairly close to what many manufacturers of pouches nicotine manufacturers, 77 nevertheless masters its subject! The red fruit notes take me back to the days of forest walks - it's like walking through a forest! 

Raspberry, or the delicately sweet taste of garden raspberries. Irresistible!

Strawberry, the bewitching sweetness of sun-ripened strawberries. I can't wait for summer, it almost makes you crave whipped cream. What a delight!

I was particularly taken with Black Currant and its delicately acidic blackcurrant, which immediately transported me back to my childhood of gooseberry picking on the edge of the forest. 

Can't decide between fruity and menthol flavors? Well, 77 breaks the mould with nicopods that combine the best of both worlds. 

Let yourself be tempted by summer flavors enhanced by the freshness of spearmint, for a refreshingly fruity tasting experience! Apple & Mint, with its delicious green apple, or Peach & Mint and its juicy white peach! A real treat!

And of course, 77 hasn't forgotten the nicopoucheurs who love fresh flavours, with Fresh Mint and its spearmint with the taste of chlorophyll chewing gum! 

Prefer the roasted flavors of Classic? Classic Tobacco is perfect for you, with its Virginia blond tobacco and renowned nutty notes. For fans of the genre, I assure you complete satisfaction. Tobacco flavors, just tobacco flavors, without the harm!

And last but not least, 77 has thought of Drinks and Cocktails lovers, by creating the highly successful Cola Vanilla. A name that speaks for itself, and gives the impression of being on a terrace with a hat and sunglasses, enjoying a cool cola! Excellent!

With its Dark Series, 77 offers a complete range, a great success and further proof of their great aromatic creativity! The aromas are perfectly distinguishable by smell, and last, especially over time. An excellent point!

Feeling under the lip
⭐⭐⭐⭐

At the start of the tasting, some pouches may seem slightly grainy, but this impression quickly fades, and you're back to the softness and comfort that are the hallmark of 77's experience and expertise, which puts them right up there with Velo, Lyft or XQS! They even become very comfortable after just a few minutes, don't slip under the lip and don't need repositioning (unless you like to change sides, of course!). A good point.

77 has chosen the Slim format for the nicopods in its new Dark Series range, the ideal compromise between ease of use, discretion and longevity. Only slightly larger than the Mini format, the Slim format remains invisible under the lip and is quickly forgotten.

Efficiency and discretion

Like the vast majority of pouches nicotine in Slim format, the pouches 77 are of the Standard type, i.e. they are packaged in such a way as to be slightly moist to enable an almost instantaneous release of flavors and nicotine. So it's hardly surprising to find that the urge to smoke disappears extremely quickly by placing a pouch under the lip.

The new nicopouches 77 also have a satisfactory shelf life, with flavours and nicotine diffusing for at least thirty minutes, putting them in the middle range.
